The discussion continues here-- answering voters' questions
The all-candidates' meeting was a chance to hear what candidates think about four big issues....
and there are many topics of concern to Nanaimo voters.
and there are many topics of concern to Nanaimo voters.
That discussion continues here.
We've set up two new areas on the blog for voters to pose questions and for candidates to respond to them---Voters' questions and Candidates' answers
Voters- this is your opportunity to ask questions about a whole range of issues
Candidates-- this is your opportunity to show how you respond to voters.

After the all-candidates' meeting....
You were there....and you care!!
Nanaimo's citizens showed how much they care about their city as they packed Beban Park Auditorium and listened attentively to candidates sharing their ideas about the big issues; planning, community consultation, good financial management and economic development. Over 600 people attended, listened, and pitched in at the end to put away chairs and tables and tidy up the auditorium. That is community spirit!
• Please let us know what you thought about candidates' comments on these issues. Did they tell you what you wanted to know? And are there other topics that should be discussed before this election?
You can post your comments directly, or send them to CDNcomment@gmail.com
Our thanks to.....
• Many thanks to moderator Mark Forsythe who skillfully handled the discussion.
• And thanks to all the neighbourhood and community groups whose volunteer time made the event happen, to sound technician Andrew Nicholls and videographer Paul Manly, and to the very helpful staff at Beban Park.

Welcome to Coalition for Democratic Nanaimo
This discussion forum leading up to the Nov. 10 all-candidates' meeting and the Nov. 19 municipal election is intended to encourage a dialogue among candidates and citizens.
In this first stage, candidates and citizens are invited to identify what they consider to be the three most important issues facing Nanaimo, and to explain why they consider these issues important.
As the discussion moves along, the themes that appear will help to shape some of the topics for the all-candidates' meeting on Nov. 10.
